FINDING YOUR MAXIMUM
HEART RATE FOR WEIGHT
LOSS
When doing an aerobic workout your Maximum Heart Rate (MHR) needs to be determined. Your MHR is defined as 220 minus your age. A 20-Year old's MHR would be 200, while a 50-Year old's would be 170. While performing aerobic exercise your HR should stay within 50-80% of your MHR. This is your Training Zone. So a 20-year old should keep their HR between 100 and 160.
The easiest way to know you are in your training zone is to wear a Heart Rate Monitor. I suggest Polar.
TRY THIS AB EXERCISE FOR LOWER AND UPPER ABS
1. Lying on the floor on the mat, legs should be straight and extended, arms resting at the side. Make sure that your lower back stays on the floor at all times.
2. Inhale, and lift legs in an upward motion until above the hips. At the same time, pull arms in an upward motion towards toes. Make sure back is against the mat, legs and arms are straight and belly button is pulled in tight.
3. Lower legs slowly to start position without allowing your feet to touch the ground. This completes one rep.
NOW LETS DO THAT 12 TIMES
NOW LETS DO 3 SETS OF 12
OUCH! BUT IT WORKS
YOU CAN DO IT!
YOU HAVE TO WANT IT!
I suggest that you do your aerobic work out right after your resistance training at less than 75% of your maximum heart rate. If you are doing your cardio (aerobic) on the days you are not doing your resistance training, then I suggest that you train at 85% to 95% of your max heart rate for the first 30 minutes and lower the intensity to 75% for the last 20 to 30 minutes. This type of workout will elevate your resting metabolism significantly and you will burn maximum amounts of fat even when you are at rest.
Here's an instant motivator:
Calculate your calorie burn:
Divide your weight by 2. That's about how many calories you use for every mile you walk at a moderate pace. Walking at a brisk pace (over 4MPH) will result in an even bigger calorie burn. David Bassett, PhD, Researcher at the University of Tennessee
